Racism

A member was banned from SI yesterday for racist comments, and other comments. It is sad to see this surface in a spiritual Forum. The American Government Partial Shutdown is also based in Racism. why do we need such racism? Why is there Racism? Any thoughts on this? There so much of this on the Internet as well.

Re: Racism

I Have to agree with you Racism is rife everywhere.when I was young you could buy jars of jam or jelly in the usa which if you collected so many labels you had a goliwog.everybody loved them now you cant say that because its racist. it wasn't racist when I grew up. nobody ever thought of the word. I have friends with disabilities to me they were no different.they were just who they are.yet they were called names if you ask me they do it out of ignorance.in schools teachers used to write on Blackboards now they have gone because it was deemened to be racist now they are called whiteboards.its pathetic, why cant people just except each other as they are we are all different.

Re: Racism

There are so many opportunities missing, it's a matter of realization that we can learn from each other despite our differences of beliefs, opinions, colors and ways. Respect, acceptance, understanding and co-existence can turn to favor us  to improve the quality life.

I think somehow it's how children were brought up and influenced by attitudes and views around them.

Re: Racism

The Internet and Social Media so much a part of this. Russian Trolls and bots mass produce racist posts, to divide us. This kind of stuff re-enforces racism, and now so many people are exposed to it.

Re: Racism

It’s true, social media has a great influence on people. Fake news, twisted facts, baseless opinions are all over the internet.

But if one have a strong character and right foundations, one cannot be easily swayed or convinced.

Re: Racism

I usually ignore this kind of junk, and do not have a news feed on my Facebook page. That stuff I am not interested in.

Re: Racism

There is good and bad in everyone the color of your skin should have no baring in how we percieve people.
but if you read the papers etc it is full of recism.that is why i ignore them.
When i was growing up a family asked me if i would mind her kids while she went to collage.the kids were in school i had to look after them for two hours, until their dad came home.many times i had to wipe away their tears when they came home.because they were called racist names.it was heartbraking to see the kids there were four of them were all adopted and they were all different races. two were twins they were african origin, one was italian origin the other was african also.
they have  grown up to be lovely people. but they still remember the names they were called just because they were a different color to most other people.
