This Poem was written by my late husband

THE RIVER
The clear shining river Flows down the sweet Valley
Meandering slowly through Hillsides of green
Through Towering Mountains uprising to Heaven
It goes on its journey so Quiet and unseen
It remembers the birth of the pretty sweet valley
Remembers the tales of whats gone on before
It remembers the times before man spoilt the valley
Remembers the time before man went to war
So many tales the river can teach us
If only we would listen if only we would learn
Dont meddle with Nature the river keeps saying
Dont meddle with Nature or the valley may burn
Gone are the people who cared for the valley
Who coexisted with nature, who knew how to share
Gone are the people who respected the valley
To be replaced by people who Simply dont care
They poison the valley with fields full of chemicals
Put roads of Black concrete where Flowers once stood
Build ugly sports centres in places of beauty
Then expect us to listen when they say arent we good
But take heed of the warning the river is bringing
Be sure to listen before the Black shadows come
For if you ignore the warnings the bright river brings you
The day will soon follow When the dyfi has gone.

The dyfi is the river that runs through the town in a place called Machynlleth where my husband was born

People do not remember words as much as they remember experiences.
