Four deaths in as many weeks

The other day i was told there was two ambulances as you turn into where i live.a guy had commited suicide in front of his two kids.they were screaming through the window my daddy is dead.they are very young.he was only in his early thirties.he was depressed but nobody knew because he wouldnt tell anyone.

last week where i live is a collection of 4 villages.on one of the villages the road was closed off by the police one policeman was stabbed three times trying to stop a suicide. the person had slit his throat he was only 23 he was known for having mental illnesses but was allowed out on his own.

Last week i went to hospital for my preop before my operation on wednesday i saw doctors running a young girl had commited suicide she was only 19 years old.

Then i went onto the forums where i am a mod to learn that Adrianne aka Dream Angel had passed away late december but we were not told until yesterday she had terminal cancer.we had our differences but i have known her for a good few years now.
someone answered a post about her he pm me and told me his wife has only got a couple of weeks left.all i have been hearing about is death.

some people are depressed and dont show it or speak about it why is their such a stigma about depression and its affects, i dont know

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

Not everyone can see depression in other people &  those that can or know how to relate to depressed people are in the minority because there isn't enough education about mental health. I think that's why there's a stigma.
I think society just wants people to be physically healthy so that they can get on with their job & mental health gets swept under the rug.

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

Native Spirit, people taking their own lives is sadly a fact of life.. How many people will actually tell their friends or relatives that they are finding it hard to cope with what life is throwing at them.. Its a digital age, people seem to communicate via social media and tbh some people need face to face contact...
Suicides seem to occur in clusters, it happens here too.. high unemployment, poverty, relationship problems.  Some people under these circumstanves cammot cope with isolation that job looss or relationship breakdowns cause, they are often too proud to ask for help or too ashamed as they regard mental illness as a sign of weakness..  I am pretty sure we all know of people in our lives who made a concious choice to end it all, but how many felt they could ask for help...  Sadly if no one draws attention to it how will we know.

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

The mentally ill face so many untrue accusations. The common trend is to think that mental illness is a choice. It is not. Depression can hit anyone just as cancer can.

That reply Tunder Bow is so correct. everyone can be affected by depression but yet their is still a stigma.attached to mental illness.unless people become more understanding of Mental health I don't see it changing sadly.

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

I do not know the USA stats but in the uk the figures say that 1 in 5 people will at sometimin their lives suffer some form of nild to severe mental illness, stress being included.. The stat fir Cancer are even worse with it dropping from 1 in 5 to 1 in 3 now..  Maybe its all the Con trail chemicals and the crop spraying and pesticides.....The problem is the fundimh here goes mainly to general health and Mental health is known as the 'Cinderella service'..

Many years ago I worked for a few months in Mental health, I found if far too disspiriting for me so I concentrated on general and intensive and neonatal specialist care. I wasunhappy with patients being given Electro Convulsive Treatments for Manic Depressive Psychosis,  now known as 'Bipolar Disorder.
My ex husband was Pschiatric trained, I felt that was more than enough lol.

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

A lot of the populations is vulnverable to mental health problems with so much exposure to technology, not just media content but the actual energy emitted, it's said to be harmful to the human energy field. It's something I notice if I'm infront of a screen for a long time before I go to bed. I can feel the moody effect in the morning.

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

That is so true.im old enough to remember when Black and white televisions were only on until 12 midnight then nothing until the following day.people had depression then its a thing that has been around since time began.
in the uk a lot of depression is caused by lack of sun light.ppl get seasonal disorders that causes depression.
watching tv all day, is a thing i couldnt do but i know a lot of people watch it all the time.watching the news is full of bad news.anything can trigger it off.but still the stigma is still there.

Re: Four deaths in as many weeks

The News Media uses "Ain't It Awful" to gain ratings, and Trump used "Ain't it Awful" to get votes. "Ain't It Awful" sells.
